How Much Will One Bitcoin Be Worth in 2031?
Most Bitcoin forecasts cluster around 2030 or 2033, but 2031 sits in a blind spot that exposes a common mistake investors make when comparing predictions across different timeframes.

Most forecasters predict Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) prices for 2030 or 2033, leaving 2031 largely unaddressed. To estimate Bitcoin’s value in 2031, we need to add one year to the 2030 targets and apply its growth rate over the past five years, starting from today’s price of $84,023.
Since predictions vary widely, it’s essential to present a range of potential values rather than a single number. Currently, Bitcoin is about 4% lower than its 2026 opening price of $87,498. It has fallen 26% over the past year but has risen 97% over the last five years. Each estimate will be based on this current price point.
Standard Chartered, ARK and Armstrong Put 2030 Between $300,000 and $1.2 Million

Several prominent forecasters have set Bitcoin targets for 2030, with wide variation. Standard Chartered has set its target at $500,000 for 2030, having moved that target back from 2028 and cut its 2028 figure to $300,000.
ARK Invest provides a range: $300,000 for its bear case, $710,000 as its base case, and $1.2 million for its bull case. This last figure was adjusted from $1.5 million because increasing competition from stablecoins is drawing investment away from Bitcoin.
Brian Armstrong, CEO of Coinbase (NASDAQ: COIN | COIN Price Prediction), suggested $400,000 as a reasonable target for 2030, down from the $1 million forecast he gave the previous year. These adjustments from key figures like Wood and Armstrong highlight a shared concern about rising competition for investment dollars that traditionally went to Bitcoin.
For 2031, we need to build on what happens in 2030. If Bitcoin trades below the $300,000 threshold by late 2030, the 2031 outlook will likely narrow significantly.
Bitcoin’s Own Growth Rate Puts 2031 Between $166,000 and $520,000

Bitcoin’s potential price growth can also be estimated through its historical growth rates. Over the past nine years, Bitcoin has grown at an average rate of about 34% per year, while its five-year growth rate has been around 15%. Based on the five-year growth, the price could reach roughly $166,000 by September 2031. Using the nine-year rate, the price could hit around $363,000.
Armstrong’s $400,000 target for 2030 assumes 44% growth from the current price, which, if maintained for another year, would suggest a potential 2031 price of $520,000.
The Other Targets Belong to Other Years, and Mixing Them Is the Common Mistake

Projections from different firms focus on different timeframes, which can cause confusion if you compare them too closely. For example, Galaxy Digital targets $250,000 by the end of 2027, while Pantera Capital predicts $740,000 for 2028 to 2029. In contrast, Bernstein forecasts $1 million for 2033, and VanEck targets $2.9 million by 2050.
When you compare forecasts from different years directly, you may mistakenly interpret them as nearly equivalent, when in fact they reflect different timeframes and market conditions. As a result, they don’t accurately tell us what to expect in 2031.
So How Much Will One Bitcoin Be Worth in 2031?
In summary, our estimate for Bitcoin’s value in September 2031 ranges from approximately $363,000 to $500,000, with Armstrong’s $400,000 sitting comfortably in the middle. This range aligns with the nine-year growth rate and the established cluster of 2030 predictions. Reaching $520,000 would require Bitcoin to grow at an impressive 44% annually, exceeding its historical average growth rate of 34%.
For Bitcoin to enter a conversation around the $400,000 mark, it must first surpass and hold above $126,198 into 2027. If it does not reach that price level by the end of 2027, the 2031 forecasts will need a significant reevaluation, potentially shifting closer to the lower range of $166,000. Ultimately, positive net inflows into Bitcoin will be crucial for hitting these ambitious targets.
