Is XRP a Good Investment Right Now at $1.54?

XRP has clawed back 54% from its summer lows, but resistance keeps capping every rally while its 2026 losses outpace every other major crypto. Before buying at current prices, there are key levels that will determine whether this recovery has…

As of now, the question of whether XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) is a worthy investment at $1.54 hinges largely on its recent recovery. After dipping significantly this summer, XRP has bounced back, climbing about 54% from its August low near $1.00. However, it still hasn’t returned to its initial price at the beginning of the year.

In the short term, XRP shows positive momentum, up 7.9% over the past week and 9.9% this month. On the flip side, the longer-term view isn’t as rosy, with XRP down 17.3% for 2026 and down 45.8% over the past 12 months.

This raises an important question for potential buyers: Is it wise to invest in a coin still in recovery mode at the current mid-range price?

XRP’s 54% Rebound From $1.00 Returned It to Its February-to-May Range

XRP’s rebound has been swift. It closed at $1.45 on August 21 and hit an intraday high of nearly $1.70 a day later, showing strong buying support just above its $1.00 support level.

Looking at XRP’s historical price points offers valuable context. The current price of $1.54 is roughly in the middle of a range it held from February to May. While it has gained since the summer slump, it still has not returned to the highs seen earlier in the year.

XRP Beat Bitcoin and Ethereum on the Week, and Sellers Have Held $1.66 Twice

Compared with its peers, XRP has shown stronger short-term performance. With a 7.9% weekly increase, XRP outperformed Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) at 3.8% and Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) at 1.8%. Additionally, U.S. spot XRP ETFs attracted around $75.6 million in investments from September 22 to 25. Historically, XRP has also defended itself better than Ethereum, gaining 69.9% over five years while Ethereum has lost 4.3% in that same timeframe.

Despite this, sellers have consistently capped XRP’s rise at around $1.66, which it reached twice in late September. The $1.63 to $1.66 zone is proving to be a critical resistance level, and breaking through could open the door to a retest of the August high of $1.70.

XRP Has the Deepest 2026 Loss of the Four Major Coins

XRP has struggled more than other major cryptocurrencies this year. Its 17.3% loss for 2026 is the highest among the leading coins, while Bitcoin, Ethereum, and Solana (CRYPTO:SOL) show much smaller decreases. Over the past year, XRP’s 45.8% drop stands out as the steepest compared to Bitcoin’s 23.2%, Ethereum’s 33%, and Solana’s 40.5%.

In the shorter term, XRP’s gains are more competitive. Its 9.9% rise this month beats Bitcoin’s 8.3% but falls slightly short of Ethereum’s 10.2% and Solana’s 16.3%.

XRP’s price fluctuations can be substantial. For instance, it moved between $1.46 and $1.26 in just one day on September 15, and it briefly hit $0.99 in August. The nearest support level is currently set around $1.50, which marks the low from September 26. If XRP closes below this point, it could indicate a return to seller control.

Is XRP a Good Investment at $1.54?

In summary, buying XRP at $1.54 can be seen as a reasonable investment, especially for those viewing it as part of a recovery strategy rather than a bargain opportunity. The price has rebounded to the February-to-May range, and there’s still potential for growth toward the opening-year price of $1.84, particularly with new fund inflows.

However, XRP currently has the steepest losses among the major cryptocurrencies in 2026. Investors should weigh the risk carefully and watch key support and resistance levels. A close above $1.70 could signal further upward movement, while a drop below $1.50 could suggest momentum has stalled. Therefore, investors should size their positions appropriately to withstand potential drops, especially since there was a recent low of $1.00.
