Is It Too Late to Buy XRP After a 42% Rally in Two Months?

XRP just posted one of crypto's sharpest two-month runs, but late buyers face a tricky setup with key support and resistance levels closing in on both sides.

XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) has surged about 42% over the last two months, reaching $1.53 as of September 27, 2026. For those who missed the recent rally, the key question now is whether it’s too late to buy XRP or if there’s still potential for further gains.

XRP Did Most of Its 42% Climb in Three August Days

XRP’s impressive rally was largely driven by a few significant days in August. The coin closed at $1.00 on August 18, the day before Ripple CEO Brad Garlinghouse met with President Trump, SEC Chair Paul Atkins, and CFTC Chair Mike Selig at the White House. After that meeting, Trump called on Congress on August 20 to pass the Clarity Act, legislation aimed at establishing clear rules for U.S. cryptocurrency markets. After that news, XRP soared to $1.46 by August 22 and even hit $1.70 that day.

Since then, growth has slowed, with XRP up only about 10% in the past month compared to a remarkable 46% increase over the last three months. Additionally, the Senate blocked the Clarity Act on September 15, causing XRP to drop to $1.28 that day before recovering.

New investors might find this slower momentum advantageous, as a steady climb often offers a less volatile entry point than a rapid ascent, which can lead to sharp pullbacks.

XRP Is Still Down 17% for 2026 Despite the Rally

Despite its recent gains, XRP remains down 17% for 2026 and has lost 46% over the past year, currently valued at around $97 billion. This means that anyone buying XRP at $1.53 is paying significantly less than those who purchased it a year ago.

However, many early holders are still facing losses and may sell if the price rises back to their purchase levels. This selling pressure could potentially slow down any rally at various price points.

Compared with other cryptocurrencies, XRP has not performed as strongly as Solana and Ethereum, although it has outperformed Bitcoin. Over the past two months, Solana rose 68%, Bitcoin rose 32%, and XRP rose 42%, while over three months Ethereum gained 72% and XRP rose 46%. Notably, XRP ETFs attracted $38 million in inflows on September 22 and 23, a modest amount compared to XRP’s daily trading volume. Overall market recovery is being driven by renewed buyer interest in cryptocurrencies, which will likely influence XRP’s next moves.

XRP Has Support Near $1.50 and Resistance at $1.70

XRP recently dipped to $1.50 on September 26 but bounced back, indicating that buyers are actively defending this support level. If XRP falls below $1.50, the next key support is around $1.28, about 16% lower than the current price.

On the upside, XRP has faced resistance near $1.70, its high from August 22, which is roughly 11% above the current price. The coin peaked at $1.66 on September 23 but stalled before reaching $1.70.

Is It Too Late to Buy XRP After Its 42% Rally?

Right now, it is not too late to buy XRP at $1.53, especially if the coin can hold above $1.50. The recent rally has transitioned into a steadier climb, with XRP still trading 46% below its price from a year ago. For long-term investors, how much XRP to hold may matter more than pinpointing the exact entry price, since the coin can be quite volatile.

So, is it too late to buy XRP after its impressive 42% rally? Not yet. A daily close above $1.70 could reignite the rally, while a drop below $1.50 might push XRP back towards $1.28. Anyone considering a purchase at this point should be aware of this potential 16% risk while entering after substantial gains.
