Which Crypto Reaches a $1 Trillion Market Cap After Bitcoin? Ethereum Is at $333 Billion, XRP at $96 Billion, Solana at $71 Billion

Bitcoin already owns the $1 trillion club, but three rivals are fighting to be next, and the gap between them is far more complicated than their prices suggest.

Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) is the only cryptocurrency with a $1 trillion market cap, valued at around $1.73 trillion, with each coin priced at about $86,190. Many holders believe that Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH), XRP (CRYPTO:XRP), and Solana (CRYPTO:SOL) are the next candidates to join this exclusive club.

However, these three cryptocurrencies have a long way to go. Currently, Ethereum’s market cap stands at about $333 billion, XRP at around $96 billion, and Solana at approximately $71 billion. This means Ethereum needs to triple in value, XRP must increase nearly tenfold, and Solana must grow fourteen times its current worth.

Determining which coin is closest to the $1 trillion mark depends not just on price but also on circulating supply and how many new coins keep entering the market.

Why Market Cap, Not Price, Shows How Far Each Coin Must Climb

Market cap, calculated by multiplying a coin’s price by its circulating supply, gives a more accurate picture than price alone. It reflects the total value of all coins currently in circulation. However, market cap can be misleading because selling a large amount could lower the price.

The circulating supply plays a crucial role in how far each coin needs to climb to reach a $1 trillion market cap, as shown in the table below:

Coin Circulating Supply Market Cap Price Target for $1 Trillion Gain Needed
Ethereum 122 million $333 billion About $8,190 About 200%
XRP 63.1 billion $96 billion About $16 About 940%
Solana 588 million $71 billion About $1,700 About 1,300%

The figures above illustrate that comparing price targets across different coins can be misleading. While XRP may target $16 and Solana $1,700, both figures correspond to a $1 trillion market cap.

Ethereum Needs About $8,190 per Coin to Reach $1 Trillion

Currently trading around $2,724, Ethereum is about 45% below its high of $4,946 reached in August 2025. To reach a $1 trillion market cap, it needs to hit about $8,190, about 66% above its previous record.

Importantly, Ethereum has no fixed maximum supply. The network continually issues new ETH to validators, who help secure the blockchain. This means buyers need to absorb a constant influx of new coins before prices can rise significantly.

Many investors see major investment firms as potential drivers of demand. As noted on CNBC’s Halftime Report on September 25, one guest stated, “I am more bullish on Ethereum than perhaps anything because it provides the base infrastructure layer for all financial transactions being done by some of the biggest investment houses.”

XRP Needs About $16 a Coin as Ripple’s Escrow Adds Supply

Currently trading at around $1.52, XRP is about 58% below its peak of $3.65 from July 2025. To hit a $1 trillion market cap, XRP would need to reach approximately $16 per coin, which is more than four times its previous high.

However, there’s a catch: around 37 billion XRP remain outside circulation, most of it held by Ripple in escrow, which can add significant supply when released. Ripple can unlock up to 1 billion XRP monthly, adding pressure on buyers to absorb new coins during any price rally.

Solana Needs About $1,700, Nearly Six Times Its 2025 Record

Solana is currently valued at about $121, about 59% below its peak price of $293 set in January 2025. To reach a $1 trillion market cap, Solana needs to rise to around $1,700, nearly six times its previous record.

Like Ethereum, Solana has no maximum supply, creating similar pressure from new coins being issued to stakers. Currently, Solana’s total supply is 635 million, already exceeding its circulating supply of 588 million.

Which Crypto Is Most Likely to Reach a $1 Trillion Market Cap Next?

Of the three cryptocurrencies, Ethereum stands out as the most likely candidate to reach a $1 trillion market cap. It needs to triple its current value, while XRP must grow tenfold and Solana fourteenfold. However, before either XRP or Solana can take the lead, they must first surpass Ethereum’s current market valuation of $333 billion.

That said, reaching a higher market cap is a significant challenge for Ethereum holders. The coin must not only exceed its previous record of $4,946 but also climb an additional 66% to about $8,190, all while managing the influx of new coins over time. Therefore, if XRP or Solana overtakes Ethereum in market cap first, it raises important questions about which coin will lead the next chase for the coveted $1 trillion market cap.
