Ethereum Price Prediction: Can ETH Get Back to $3,000 Before the End of 2026?
Ethereum sits nearly 25% below a key psychological level, and the clock is ticking with ETF outflows accelerating and Bitcoin pulling ahead. Whether ETH can stage a serious recovery by year-end depends on a narrow set of conditions falling into…

Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) currently stands at $2,417 as of October 18, 2026, and needs about a 24% rise to reclaim the $3,000 mark it last surpassed in January. This price reflects an 18.5% decline from the closing price of $2,967 at the end of 2025. In October, the Ethereum price has reversed much of its summer gains.
At the beginning of October, ETH closed at $2,706 but fell by 11.6% over the following two weeks, including a 5.2% drop in the week to October 17. On October 15, ETH hit an intraday low of $2,313, marking its lowest level since the $2,220 low recorded on August 20. The closing prices around $2,420 on October 14 and October 16 were the weakest since mid-September. So, can ETH rebound to $3,000 before 2026 ends?
ETH Needs a 24% Increase to Reach $3,000

To get back to $3,000 from $2,417, ETH needs to rise about 24.1%, or roughly $583 per coin. The first major hurdle is the $2,807 intraday high reached on September 21, the highest point since July. Even if ETH surpasses this threshold, it will still need another 6.9% to reach the $3,000 target.
ETH posted its best monthly close of 2026 in September at $2,684, with buyers recently testing the $2,684 to $2,807 range but failing to hold it consistently.
The last time ETH traded above $3,000 was in January when it reached a monthly high of $3,405. After peaking at $2,474 in February, it hasn’t returned above $3,000 since. The most recent monthly close exceeding $3,000 occurred in October 2025, at $3,846.
For perspective, ETH is currently trading 51.1% below its August 2025 record high of $4,946, showing that $3,000 is a recovery goal still far from a new all-time high.
Ether ETFs Have Seen $955 Million in October Outflows

Exchange-traded funds (ETFs) that hold ETH for investors have seen significant net outflows. Between October 1 and October 16, Ether ETFs withdrew $955 million, according to SoSoValue. Every day during this period recorded outflows, except for October 13, when they brought in $24.8 million.
These outflows suggest fund managers are selling ETH to return cash to investors redeeming their shares, signaling the need for several weeks of steady inflows to support the $3,000 target.
Bitcoin, Not the Hoodi Test, Could Lift ETH

Historically, ETH often mirrors Bitcoin’s movements (CRYPTO:BTC). In the 60 days leading up to October 17, ETH and Bitcoin posted nearly identical gains, with ETH up 26.3% and Bitcoin 26.1%.
However, the past month showed a split: Bitcoin rose 6.8%, while ETH dipped 1.1%, suggesting ETH is lagging despite a more stable crypto market. As of October 18, Bitcoin trades at $81,977. If Bitcoin continues to rise, it could help lift ETH and bring the $3,000 target back into view.
While Ethereum developers plan to test larger blocks on the Hoodi test network on October 26, these milestones rarely drive significant price movement for ETH. The test network lets developers experiment without risking user funds, but it typically doesn’t drive investor interest.
ETH Has Rebounded Before, but Needs Strong Buyer Support

ETH has demonstrated impressive gains in the past. For instance, from April 2025’s closing price of $1,794, it climbed to $3,698 by July 2025, representing a whopping 106% increase in just three months. However, strong buying momentum fueled that surge, which the October ETF outflows show is currently lacking.
For ETH to realistically reach $3,000, several conditions are likely necessary. First, it needs to hold above the $2,313 low recorded on October 15. Next, Ether ETFs must shift from recording outflows to generating steady inflows. Then, ETH will need to break above the $2,807 high set in September and stay above it. If these conditions are met, a serious attempt at reaching $3,000 could materialize.
Can the Ethereum Price Reach $3,000 Before the End of 2026?
Right now, we believe ETH has a low chance of hitting $3,000 before December 31, 2026. Although a 24% increase keeps the target within reach, the direction of ETF flows suggests otherwise. A close below $2,313 could push ETH down toward the $2,220 low from August, potentially delaying the $3,000 target until 2027.
The key indicators to watch include a daily close above $2,807 by the end of November, supported by positive weekly ETF inflows. Without these developments, the $3,000 target will likely remain elusive in 2026.
