Chainlink, Stellar, and Hedera have each shed double digits over the past month, but Claude's 2028 price targets tell a story where one of these battered coins outpaces the others by a meaningful margin. The real question is whether the…

In a recent analysis by Anthropic’s AI model, Claude, projected prices for Chainlink (CRYPTO:LINK), Stellar (CRYPTO:XLM), and Hedera (CRYPTO:HBAR) on December 31, 2028, suggest potential gains of 60% to 76%. However, these figures would still leave each coin well below its all-time highs. All three cryptocurrencies peaked within 90 days on September 28, 2026, then declined through October.

Chainlink trades at $11.80, down 19.2% over the past month. Stellar is priced at $0.1714, down 23.0% during the same period, while Hedera is at $0.0741, down 27.6%. So, which of these cryptocurrencies stands to gain the most, and how realistic are Claude’s predictions?

Claude’s projections are based on current prices: $12 for LINK, $0.17 for XLM, and $0.075 for HBAR. By December 31, 2028, Claude anticipates LINK reaching $20, XLM hitting $0.30, and HBAR achieving $0.12.

In percentage terms, Stellar leads with a forecasted increase of about 76%, followed by Chainlink at about 67% and Hedera at around 60%. Here’s how a $1,000 investment at these current prices would grow if Claude’s forecasts were realized:

Coin Coins per $1,000 2028 forecast Value at forecast Bear price Bull price
LINK 83 $20 $1,667 $5 $45
XLM 5,882 $0.30 $1,765 $0.07 $0.80
HBAR 13,333 $0.12 $1,600 $0.03 $0.35

Even in Claude’s best-case scenarios, prices would still fall short of their previous highs. LINK’s record is $52.70, XLM’s is $0.8756, and HBAR’s is $0.5692, and Claude puts the chances of surpassing those records at just 6%, 5%, and 2%.

Market capitalization, the total value of all coins currently in circulation, shows the scale involved. Chainlink’s is about $9.05 billion, ranked 16th, while Stellar’s is about $6.04 billion and Hedera’s is about $3.29 billion.

Chainlink Needs Standardization From DTCC

For Chainlink to realize its potential, the Depository Trust & Clearing Corporation (DTCC) must adopt its pricing and cross-chain infrastructure as a standard. The DTCC facilitates the settlement of a majority of U.S. securities trades and has already initiated a live tokenization service.

Chainlink operates an oracle network that provides external data, such as prices, to blockchains. It recently launched a product in collaboration with Aave (CRYPTO:AAVE), a lending platform, and S&P Global (NYSE:SPGI | SPGI Price Prediction) on the Base blockchain. If DTCC selects Chainlink as a standard, it could propel LINK to the forefront.

Chainlink has shown it can move quickly when demand rises; for example, it surged 44.5% over 90 days from a low of $8.06 on August 1, 2026, peaking at $15.44 before retreating.

Stellar Shows Measurable Activity

Claude ranks XLM highest of the three because of its visible activity and usability. In 2025, Stellar processed $55.6 billion in payments, with $1.65 billion of the $2.38 billion SAFO fund utilizing Stellar technology. SAFO, a tokenized money market fund, is backed by Amundi and Spiko, according to MarketScreener.

Moreover, Stellar has gained traction as the default network for MetaMask, a widely used crypto wallet, making it accessible to a broader range of retail users. However, despite this activity, XLM has dropped 45.8% over the past year.

Hedera Lacks a Clear Catalyst

Claude ranks HBAR last mainly because it lacks a clear growth catalyst and has seen a significant recent decline. HBAR has fallen 29.2% since September 30 and is trading below its 20-day, 50-day, and 200-day moving averages, key trend indicators.

Nonetheless, Claude’s target of $0.12 is near HBAR’s recent price of $0.122 on September 28, meaning the forecast requires HBAR to return to its previous price level.

Which Coin Is Set to Gain the Most by 2028?

Claude’s analysis suggests XLM has the best chance of delivering the highest gains by December 31, 2028. All three cryptocurrencies are currently priced near Claude’s initial estimates, making the forecasts relevant from today’s levels. Stellar benefits from measurable payment and fund activity, positioning it well in the market.

For XLM, the first resistance is $0.2264, its September 30 close, then $0.3159 from October 2025. LINK must surpass its 50-day average of $12.65 and its $15.44 high to reach $20, or it could drop to $5 instead. HBAR needs to stay above its $0.0646 low and reclaim $0.1047, or it risks the $0.03 bear target. If LINK breaks its high on DTCC news before XLM clears $0.2264, Claude’s rankings may need a reevaluation.
