The holiday season is not a particularly outstanding time for sales at Home Depot Inc. (NYSE: HD). The company’s big push is the springtime clean-up and fix-up season. That doesn’t mean the company won’t chase some consumer cash during the holidays.

Home Depot’s Black Friday ad supplement this year is a 32-page document with hundreds of items that will be specially priced for the day after Thanksgiving. The stores are closed on Thanksgiving Day, but online shoppers can begin going after the bargains at 6:00 a.m. Eastern time on Thursday, and stores will open at 6:00 a.m. local time on Black Friday.

Following a trend among retailers that sell appliances, Home Depot is offering savings of up to 40% on some appliances. The sale pricing began on November 2 and is available through November 30. Shoppers who buy two or more appliances valued at $498 or more can also qualify for up to an additional $450 in savings. If you buy two you save $50, and if you buy six or more you can save $450.

The front page of the Home Depot ad features holiday yard items like lighted reindeer, poinsettia plants (for 99 cents, in stores only), and a 7.5-foot pre-lighted Christmas for $79, a savings of $120 from the regular price of $199.

Home Depot also offers sale pricing on some hand tools, always a popular gift from spouses hoping to encourage more fix-up projects around the house. The company is offering a two-piece set including a drill and an impact driver for $149, a savings of up to $50 off the regular price.

And for a home handyman who needs (wants?) bigger power tools, Home Depot offers a Rigid-brand 10-inch table saw for $299, a savings of $100 from the regular price, and a Rigid 12-inch compound miter saw for the same price, a savings of $200.
