Apple VP Greg Joswiak was talking to reporters Wednesday and politely calling BS.

Greg Joswiak, Apple vice president of product marketing, told CNET in an interview Wednesday that the device has “been our most popular iPhone each and every day since the day it became available.”

“Since the iPhone XR became available, it’s been the best-selling iPhone each and every day that it’s been on sale,” Joswiak told Reuters.

My take: Joswiak declined to comment on last week’s Wall Street Journal report that Apple had “slashed” production orders on all three of this year’s iPhones. That’s the polite part. It’s possible, of course, that sales are slow across the board and both the Journal and Joswiak are right. It’s also possible that Apple has finally learned to scale up iPhone production to meet demand.
