Allstate Chairman and CEO Thomas J. Wilson flagged in the company's 2026 Q3 earnings report that auto insurance policies in force were 3.4% higher than a year ago, with homeowners also rising. Those are simultaneous gains across both major lines, a combination that signals the carrier is winning new customers rather than simply retaining existing ones at higher premiums.
The growth is being attributed to a suite of products Wilson described as Affordable, Simple and Connected, paired with broader distribution. Market share gains in a period when rivals are still repricing their own books suggests Allstate moved through its rate cycle earlier and is now in a position to compete aggressively on price and product.

As industry-wide rate increases slow, insurers that are still rebuilding their customer bases face the harder task of attracting shoppers in a more competitive market. Allstate appears to be on the right side of that transition heading into the final stretch of 2026.
Wilson also noted that Protection Plans' international revenues are growing rapidly, adding a secondary growth engine beyond the core domestic property and casualty business. That diversification is worth monitoring as the domestic insurance market normalizes.
