IonQ lands DARPA Stage C and an Nvidia on-site deployment
As seen on the 24/7 Wall St. homepage on November 5, 2026.
We are deeply proud that IonQ is the only trapped-ion company to advance to DARPA Stage C. This final stage of DARPA's Quantum Benchmarking Initiative includes a potential program value of up to $300 million. In addition, NVIDIA will deploy a Superion 256 system as the first on-premise quantum computer at its Accelerated Quantum Research Center – connected directly to its AI supercomputing infrastructure.
De Masi is tying an $11.4 billion valuation to two outside validators: a DARPA final-stage program worth up to $300 million, and Nvidia putting a Superion 256 on site next to its AI supercomputers. Atom Computing, Diraq and IBM also made Stage C, so the differentiator here is trapped ion rather than exclusive selection.

DARPA's Quantum Benchmarking Initiative has advanced IonQ to its final stage, Stage C, which carries a potential program value of up to $300 million. The distinction De Masi is leaning on is specific: IonQ is the only trapped-ion company to reach this round, even though Atom Computing, Diraq, and IBM also made Stage C through other qubit approaches.
The second validator is a commercial deployment that is harder to dismiss. NVIDIA will install a Superion 256 system at its Accelerated Quantum Research Center as the first on-premise quantum computer there, connected directly to NVIDIA's AI supercomputing infrastructure. That physical integration with one of the most closely watched AI hardware ecosystems gives IonQ a reference site with real visibility.

Together, the two data points are the scaffolding for a current market valuation of $11.4 billion. The argument is that government endorsement at the DARPA level and a blue-chip hardware partnership at the NVIDIA level reduce the execution risk that typically discounts early-stage quantum companies so heavily.
What to watch is whether the DARPA Stage C work translates into contract revenue and whether the Superion 256 deployment at NVIDIA's center produces published benchmarks. Either outcome would give the market something concrete to reprice against, in either direction.
