Beats on both lines and a raised outlook calling for 60%-plus revenue growth in 2027 still sent the stock lower, because the AI buildout is showing up in the costs: operating income fell 26.5%. The debate now is how much more capacity spending that growth demands.

DigitalOcean's Q3 2026 revenue of $321.19 million came in above expectations, with revenue up 39.9% year over year in a fifth straight quarter of accelerating growth.

AI workloads are the engine: AI Customer ARR rose 288% to $376 million, and CEO Paddy Srinivasan says the center of gravity in AI has moved from chatting with models to agents doing work, which DigitalOcean serves with Managed Agents, Agent Learning Services, and Agent Data Services.

The stock fell despite the beats because the cost of that growth is now visible: operating income dropped 26.5% year over year to $33 million even as revenue expanded. A $57.1 million induced conversion expense from retiring 2030 Convertible Notes pushed the GAAP result to a net loss.

Management guided Q4 2026 revenue to $348 to $351 million and projected full-year 2027 revenue growth above 60%, backed by a $785 million equipment lease facility and roughly 180 megawatts of data center capacity. Investors now have to weigh whether operating leverage arrives on the timeline management is promising.

DigitalOcean has beaten estimates in each of the past eight reported quarters, yet reported EPS in Q2 and Q3 2026 compressed relative to prior quarters, illustrating the cost pressure the market is pricing in.
