EOG Resources posted adjusted earnings of $4.87 per share for the third quarter of 2026, beating the consensus estimate of $4.45 by more than 9%. That extended the company's streak of topping analyst EPS expectations to six consecutive quarters, a run of consistent execution that has become a signature of EOG's operational style.
Revenue of $8.55 billion topped the $7.18 billion consensus, climbing 49% from a year earlier. The driver was production: total equivalent volumes beat the company's own guidance midpoint, with crude oil and condensate, NGL, and natural gas volumes all finishing above their respective guidance midpoints. Per-unit cash operating costs also came in below the guidance midpoint, meaning EOG outperformed on both the volume and cost sides simultaneously.
The quarter's cash generation gave management room to reward shareholders directly. EOG raised its regular quarterly dividend 8% to $1.10 per share, a move CEO Ezra Yacob described as reflecting "confidence in our business and our ability to support the higher dividend through commodity price cycles." The company also repurchased 7.0 million shares for $1.0 billion during the quarter and ended the period holding $5.75 billion in cash.

EOG disclosed two strategic moves pointing toward longer-term earnings power. The company signed a new long-term gas sales agreement linked to JKM pricing, the benchmark for liquefied natural gas in Asia, and said the deal will lift its premium-priced LNG feedgas exposure to more than 1 billion cubic feet per day by 2030. EOG also approved an expansion of its Janus gas processing plant in the Delaware Basin, adding capacity to handle rising gas volumes from one of its core operating areas.
For the fourth quarter, EOG guided total production to a midpoint of 1,408.8 thousand barrels of oil equivalent per day, with full-year 2026 capital spending centered at $6.5 billion. One sequential headwind stands out. The composite average realized revenue per barrel of oil equivalent fell from $50.52 in the second quarter to $48.05 in the third, a move management said reduced diluted earnings per share by $0.49 relative to the prior period.
