General Motors posted adjusted EPS of $3.70 for the third quarter of 2026, beating expectations for the sixth consecutive quarter. That streak signals something more durable than a one-quarter surprise.

GM North America drove the quarter, with EBIT-adjusted up 43.4% to $3.59 billion and margins expanding to 8.7%. Wholesale vehicle sales and automotive operating cash flow both rose, giving the company real financial firepower heading into the final stretch of the year.

GM International saw EBIT-adjusted fall 87.7% to $28 million, with China equity income also lower. North American strength is carrying significant weight, and any deterioration there would matter quickly.

Management tightened and raised guidance across the board, narrowing full-year EBIT-adjusted to $14.5 billion to $15.5 billion while lifting free cash flow and adjusted EPS ranges.

GM's board also approved a new $20 billion multi-year share repurchase authorization with no expiration date, after completing its prior buyback program announced in January 2026. Shares outstanding have already fallen to 849 million, so the buyback has meaningfully lifted per-share earnings and continues at a larger scale.
