The FTSE 100 closed at 10,751.77, a decline of roughly 0.2%. Sellers held control for much of the session, with the index touching losses approaching 0.6% before paring back.

Germany's DAX added 1.2% on the same session, with euro exposure cited as the source of those gains. London's index carries a different currency and sector mix, which helps explain why the two markets moved in opposite directions on the same afternoon.

France's CAC 40 also closed lower, falling about 0.2%, leaving the DAX as the clear outlier across the three major European benchmarks. The day's momentum was concentrated in euro-denominated assets.
