The FTSE 100 added about 19 points at the open on September 10, nudging the index to roughly 14,479 and extending a run that has kept London pointing toward record territory for a third consecutive session.

Paris is the sharper mover this morning, with the CAC 40 up nearly 0.30% at the open and drawing the stronger flow into French-listed names.

For context, the FTSE has been pulling back from higher levels reached over the preceding two weeks, when the index was trading above 14,800. Today's open reclaims a little of that lost ground, though the index remains well below those recent peaks.

The spread between London and Paris is the clearest thing to keep an eye on as the session develops. If the CAC 40 holds its early advantage while the FTSE struggles to sustain its modest gain, the morning's momentum is concentrated on the continent.
