Monster Beverage Q3 2026: Beat Overshadowed by Margin Slide
As seen on the 24/7 Wall St. homepage on November 5, 2026.
A double beat is selling off anyway: gross margin slipped to 54.7% from 55.7% on higher aluminum can and freight costs, even as international net sales jumped to $1.20 billion. Traders are treating the cost line as the story.

Monster Beverage cleared the bar on both earnings and revenue in the third quarter of 2026, with adjusted EPS of $0.30 edging past the $0.2984 consensus estimate and net sales of $2.56 billion beating expectations. Revenue grew 16.6% year over year, an acceleration that CEO Hilton H. Schlosberg called a record quarterly figure. Despite those headline beats, the stock sold off as investors zeroed in on the cost side of the ledger.
Gross margin narrowed to 54.7% from 55.7% in the year-ago period, pressured by higher aluminum can costs, geographic sales mix, and freight-in expenses. Operating margin also compressed, falling to 28.0% from 30.7%, with results further weighed by a $19.9 million impairment charge on a Kona, Hawaii property reclassified as held-for-sale and $14.7 million in digital transformation expenses running through general and administrative costs. Distribution expenses rose to $116.3 million and selling expenses climbed to $260.1 million on expanded social, digital, and sponsorship marketing.
The clearest bright spot was international demand. Net sales outside the United States rose 28.1% to $1.20 billion, lifting the international share of total revenue to roughly 47% from 43% a year earlier. Latin America was the standout within that figure, with net sales surging 48.8% in dollar terms, primarily driven by Brazil. Schlosberg also pointed to scanner data showing share gains in Mexico, Chile, Argentina, and multiple EMEA markets.

Within segments, Monster Energy Drinks grew 17.1% to $2.37 billion and Strategic Brands grew 19.8% to $156.4 million. Alcohol Brands moved in the opposite direction, contracting 13.6% to $28.5 million, a continuing drag on the overall portfolio. Energy drink case volume reached 304,902 thousand cases, up from 258,387 thousand in the prior-year quarter, underscoring that the volume story remained intact even as margins came under pressure.
Looking at the recent EPS history, the Q3 2026 reported figure of $0.30 is a notable step down from the $0.60 posted in Q2 2026 and the $0.58 in Q1 2026, partly reflecting those elevated cost items and impairment charges. Monster repurchased approximately 2.3 million shares at an average price of $43.87, spending about $100 million during the quarter, with roughly $800 million remaining under previously authorized buyback programs as of November 4, 2026. The buyback activity signals management confidence even as the market's near-term focus has shifted firmly to the trajectory of input costs.
