Rivian closed at $12.42 on October 16, 2026, undercutting the prior 52-week floor set in November 2025. Every recovery attempt of the past year has now failed to hold.
Shares reached $21.18 during the 52-week window before surrendering the entire gain and then some. Each rally since that peak has drawn in buyers and faded, leaving the stock at levels not seen in over a year.
At $12.42, Rivian's market cap stands at $17.9 billion. For a company still scaling electric truck and van production, that valuation reflects genuine investor skepticism about the path to profitability, and a new annual low does nothing to ease that concern.
The question now is whether $12.42 holds or gives way further. A stock that undercuts a prior annual low without an immediate reversal often invites additional selling pressure, as stop-loss orders and momentum strategies kick in below established support.
