A $10,000 bet on Zscaler's 2018 IPO day is worth more than $50,000 eight years later. Getting there meant sitting through a drop from six figures in late 2021 and another steep slide this spring.

A $10,000 investment in Zscaler on its 2018 IPO day is now worth more than $50,000, and most holders collected that quietly.

The stock reversed sharply after its late 2021 peak and slid steeply again this spring, so holders through both drawdowns saw much of those gains evaporate before recovering. The long-run math works only for investors who did not sell at either bottom.

Sizing a position today means accepting that volatility to collect the return.
