About Orchid Island Capital

Orchid Island Capital, Inc. (NYSE: ORC) is a specialty finance company structured as a real estate investment trust (REIT) that invests on a leveraged basis in Agency residential mortgage-backed securities (RMBS). The company's investment portfolio consists of two categories: traditional pass-through Agency RMBS, including mortgage pass-through certificates and collateralized mortgage obligations (CMOs) issued by government-sponsored enterprises (GSEs) such as Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac; and structured Agency RMBS, including interest-only (IO), inverse interest-only (IIO), and principal-only securities. Orchid finances its portfolio primarily through repurchase agreements across a diversified base of over 30 active lending counterparties and employs interest rate derivatives — including swaps, swaptions, futures, and TBA contracts — to manage interest rate risk. The company is externally managed by Bimini Advisors, LLC, a registered investment adviser. As a REIT, Orchid is required to distribute at least 90% of its REIT taxable income as dividends and pays regular monthly dividends to shareholders. Updated
