Runway Growth Finance Corp. is a specialty finance company that provides flexible debt capital to late- and growth-stage companies seeking an alternative to raising equity, primarily in the venture-backed innovation economy. It is a closed-end investment fund that has elected to be regulated as a business development company (BDC) under the Investment Company Act of 1940. The company earns income mainly from interest (including payment-in-kind interest), fees and dividends on its investments. As of September 30, 2026, its portfolio had a fair value of $1.1 billion across 77 companies. That included $1.0 billion in loans, 96.2% of them senior secured, plus $69.7 million in warrants and other equity-related investments. The company funds itself through a credit facility and several series of unsecured notes maturing between 2027 and 2031. It pays quarterly distributions and runs an active share repurchase program. Runway Growth is externally managed by Runway Growth Capital LLC, an affiliate of BC Partners Advisors L.P., and is led by Co-CEOs David Spreng and Michael Rovner. Updated
