About Google
Alphabet Inc. is the holding company for Google and a collection of other businesses. It reports three segments: Google Services, Google Cloud and Other Bets.
Google Services covers ads, Android, Chrome, consumer devices, Google Maps, Google Play, Search and YouTube. It earns revenue mainly from advertising (Google Search & other, YouTube ads and Google Network). It also earns from consumer subscriptions such as YouTube TV, YouTube Music and Premium, NFL Sunday Ticket and Google One, from app and in-app purchases, and from consumer devices.
Google Cloud sells infrastructure and platform services, applications and other enterprise products. Its revenue comes from consumption-based fees and subscriptions for Google Cloud Platform and Google Workspace, and increasingly from product sales of its TPU AI accelerator systems. Demand for enterprise AI infrastructure and AI solutions is now its primary growth engine.
Other Bets generates revenue mainly from autonomous transportation services and internet services.
Alphabet also funds shared AI research centrally, including its Gemini family of models and the Gemini app. It is investing heavily in technical infrastructure and funds part of that build-out through debt, at-the-market equity issuance and mandatory convertible preferred stock, while paying quarterly common dividends. Owning "Big Tech" as one block no longer works if only two of the group are still trending higher, with Alphabet breaking down as AI search competition pressure mounts.
Mega-cap price action has been all over the place lately.

GOOG is never a bad buy. I’ve never bought Reddit and likely never will
233 comments and the crowd splits cleanly: Alphabet gets the benefit of the doubt, Reddit gets blamed for the same AI search shift that just cut its traffic. The thread is a live test of whether a 25% post-earnings drop is a discount or a broken business model.
Big Tech's selloff has Reddit arguing with itself: traders are split on Reddit's own stock, which drew 2,030 comments today, and on Alphabet, where the mood is souring fast. ServiceNow is the one name the crowd has turned outright bearish on, while Apple still has fans.
Google Cloud revenue doubled, up 103% year over year on AI infrastructure and TPU sales, which is what matters for investors here. The EPS miss came from an $8.7 billion loss on equity securities, and quarterly capex of $51.4 billion pushed free cash flow negative. Keep an eye on the stock as the call gets underway.
Kindig is putting a number on the AI buildout that anchors the capex debate: up to $6.5 trillion by 2030, with Nvidia and the four hyperscalers sitting on the receiving end of most of it.
Bain projects nearly 150GW of new data center capacity to be built out by 2030, requiring $5 trillion to $6.5 trillion in spending.

The 607-upvote thesis: Alphabet wins the AI race either way by selling TPUs and cloud compute to the rivals burning VC money, so model benchmarks matter less than who pays the infrastructure bill. The trader is backing it with June 2027 calls struck at $300.
