Inflation Stays Tame

We had Bloomberg estimates for CPI at 0.0% on the nominal headline CPI, and had estimates at +0.1% on the core CPI.
On a year over year basis, the headline CPI was -0.7% and the core rate was +1.9% year over year on an ex-food and energy basis.
April’s energy prices were down 2.4% from march, but down 25.2% from a year ago. Housing is still a monster component, and that came in at -0.1%. Without surprise, the medical care costs rose by 0.4%.
