The polls have been closed for about an hour in the Scottish referendum on independence. Votes are being tallied and early estimates on voter turnout are very high.

According to the Edinburgh News, £10 million to £12 million have been wagered in the U.K.’s licensed betting parlors, with one brave punter risking £900,000 on a No vote. The gambler’s sentiment runs in favor of independence, though, with about 70% of all bets in favor of a Yes vote.

The newspaper also cites a YouGov exit poll the puts the result at 54% No and 46% Yes, and the president of YouGov told Sky New that he is 99% certain that the vote will be against independence.

The earliest returns are expected at around 2 a.m. local time (9 p.m. ET) in North Lanarkshire, Orkney, East Lothian and Perth and Kinross.
