Taiwanese chip maker Elan Microelectronics Corp. has settled a patent dispute with Apple Inc. (NASDAQ: AAPL). According to Elan, Apple will pay the company $5 million and the two will sign a cross-licensing agreement on the disputed patents.
The settlement stems from a ruling by the US International Trade Commission in which the two companies accused each of infringing two patents. The ITC ruled in June that Apple had violated one of Elan’s claims, and that is what eventually led to the settlement.
