Motorola Mobility (NYSE: MMI), soon to be bought by Google (NASDAQ: GOOG), reported that it has won a preliminary round against Apple (NASDAQ: AAPL) in a dispute over three patents. The patent wars among Apple, Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT), and a number of smartphone companies that use the Google Android OS have ramped up in the last several months.

Motorola Mobility Holdings announced that it has received notice that the Administrative Law Judge in the U.S. International Trade Commission (“ITC”) action brought by Apple against Motorola Mobility has issued an initial determination. The ALJ ruled in favor of Motorola Mobility, finding no violation for any of the three Apple patents listed in Apple’s suit.
