Transition to 4G Wireless Networks Creates New Jobs

How much economic impact is there when a new technology is adopted? One good example of the effects of new technology is new and faster wireless networks, which have gone through two generational changes in the past few years.  For example, do these sorts of changes create new jobs?

A new study by NDN offers an answer:

[T]he investments and innovation entailed in the transition from 2G to 3G wireless technologies and Internet infrastructure spurred the creation of some 1,585,000 new jobs from April 2007 to June 2011. … [U]nder the current transition, every 10 percent increase in the adoption of 3G and 4G wireless technologies could add more than 231,000 new jobs to the U.S. economy in less than a year.
