Continental Resources Inc. (NYSE: CLR) dropped nearly 8% today to post a new 52-week low of $49.25. The stock’s 52-week high is $80.91. The largest producer in the Bakken shale play today cancelled all its oil hedges, essentially daring Saudi Arabia to try winning a price war with the company. Trading volume was nearly triple the daily average of around 2.5 million shares traded.
Genworth Financial Inc. (NYSE: GNW) dropped more than 38% on Thursday to post a new 52-week low of $8.66 after closing at $14.07 on Wednesday evening. The stock’s 52-week high is $18.74. Share volume is nearly 14-times the daily average of around 5 million. The financial services company posted a big loss after markets closed last night.
International Business Machines Corp. (NYSE: IBM) posted a new 52-week low on Thursday of $160.05. Based on Wednesday night’s closing price of $160.72 that’s a drop of less than 0.5%. The stock’s 52-week high is $88.28. Trading volume is about 20% below the daily average of around 4 million shares. The company had no specific news today.
Solazyme Inc. (NASDAQ: SZYM) posted a drop of more than 56% today to post a new 52-week — and all-time — low of $3.25 against a 52-week high of $15.00. Volume is about 15-times the daily average of around 1.2 million shares. The renewable fuel maker posted worse-than-expected results on Wednesday night and continues to have production issues at its Brazilian plant.
