Advanced Micro Devices Inc. (NASDAQ: AMD) dropped about 18% on Tuesday to post a new 52-week low of $2.02 after closing at $2.47 on Monday. The stock’s 52-week high is $4.80. Share volume totaled more than 41 million shares, nearly 3-times the daily average of around 15 million. The company cut guidance on weak demand for PCs.
Vale SA (NYSE: VALE) posted a new 52-week low on Tuesday. Shares dropped about 7.3% to a low of $5.20 from Monday’s closing price of $5.61. The stock’s 52-week high is $14.93. Volume totaled more than 41 million shares, about 25% higher than the stock’s daily average of around 33 million. The price of iron ore dropped below $50 a tonne today, driving Vale’s stock down.
Micron Technology Inc. (NYSE: MU) dropped about 5.2% on Tuesday to post a new 52-week low at $17.37 after closing at $18.32 on Monday. The stock’s 52-week high is $36.59. Share volume totaled around 40 million, about 60% above the daily average of around 24 million shares traded. The company was hit by the bad news from AMD.
Alibaba Group Holding Ltd. (NYSE: BABA) dropped about 5% on Tuesday to post a new 52-week low of $76.21 against a 52-week high of $120.00. The stock closed at $80.23 on Monday night. Volume totaled nearly 32 million shares, about double the daily average of around 16 million. The stock plummeted on the continuing dive in Chinese stocks trade in China.
