Quick Read

  • AMD's record $6.7B Q2 Data Center revenue, up 107% year-over-year, supports a model price target of $648 by August 2027.

  • Lisa Su says AMD will significantly exceed a $20 EPS target, a gap Wall Street's $612 consensus hasn't fully priced into AMD or AMDD.

  • Act now: the analyst who called NVIDIA in 2010 just named his top 10 AI stocks — and AMD didn't make the cut. Grab the names FREE today.

Prediction: AMD Stock Will Hit $650 on This Date

AMD is having a moment. Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD | AMD Price Prediction) has ridden the AI infrastructure boom to a 117.79% year-to-date gain, with Q2 2026 Data Center revenue growing 107% year-over-year to a record $6.7 billion.

CEO Lisa Su was blunt on the earnings call: “We are still in the early innings of a multi-year AI adoption cycle, and the opportunity ahead is enormous.” Shares now trade near $466.42. Can they hit $650? I think they can, and I’ll show you the exact date the math points to.

Why AMD Shares Have Cooled Off Recently

Even monster stocks pause. AMD is down 3.42% over the last week and 7.38% over the last month, giving back part of a 180% one-year run. The pullback is a margin story, not a top-line one.

Q2 revenue exceeded expectations and EPS came in ahead as well. The issue is margin optics. Gross margin guidance stayed flat at approximately 56% despite the Data Center mix shift, and management flagged that “the server CPU supply chain is tight right now.”

With a beta of 2.49, AMD trades like a leveraged bet on AI capex, so any hesitation in the narrative gets amplified. Insider activity has skewed toward selling, which does not help sentiment.

Wall Street Sees $612, Our Model Sees More

Wall Street is already loud on this name. The consensus target sits at $612.84, with 5 strong buys, 36 buys, 10 holds, and zero sells. That is 80% bullish coverage. Our internal model goes further.

Base case: $648.65, implying 39.07% upside and carrying high confidence. Bull case: $732.79. Bear case: $494.34.

Analysts are anchored to Q3 numbers and still catching up to what Su said on the call: earnings power will “significantly exceed our $20 annual EPS target within our strategic timeframe.” That is the disconnect.

Math Behind $650 and the Date That Matters

Reaching $650 from today’s price of $466.42 would require a gain of 39.4%. With forward EPS of $8.64, a $650 price implies a forward P/E of 75x. AMD trades at roughly 54x forward earnings today, so the target needs about 21x of multiple expansion, or more realistically, EPS to keep sprinting so the P/E compresses on its own.

That second path is plausible. Q3 revenue is guided to approximately $13 billion, up 41% year-over-year. Su said the overall Data Center segment will “grow by over 100%, so more than double” in 2027, with Helios rack-scale systems shipping later this quarter and ramping through the fourth quarter and into 2027.

Anchor customers include OpenAI, Meta, Microsoft Azure, and Anthropic, the last of which committed to up to two gigawatts of MI450 series GPUs in Helios.

Our model’s base case reaches $648.65 on August 20, 2027. That is the date. The primary risk is China export controls or a Helios yield slip pushing the ramp right.

Valuation Context Before You Get Excited

Shares sit between a 52-week high of $584.73 and low of $149.22, roughly 5% off the peak. Over a decade, AMD has returned 6,021%, so a 39% year is not unusual for this ticker.

At 54x forward earnings, AMD is not cheap, but if 2027 EPS lands meaningfully above the old $20 goalpost, the multiple compresses fast.

AMD price scenario

My Verdict on $650 by August 2027

Getting to $650 requires a 39.4% gain, and our base case says AMD gets there by August 20, 2027.

Three things need to go right: Helios needs to ramp on schedule, EPYC Venice needs to keep taking share from Intel, and gross margin needs to stabilize as MI450 volumes scale. A sharp tightening of AI accelerator export rules to China would derail it. Returns at this level shouldn’t be expected every year, but we’ve outlined the blueprint for how AMD could reach $650 in 2027.
