Synopsys Investor Day Impresses BofA and KeyBanc, Driving Higher Price Targets and Stronger Growth Outlook

BofA raised its price target on Synopsys (NASDAQ:SNPS | SNPS Price Prediction) to $600 from $500 and kept its buy rating. KeyBanc raised its target to $605 from $600 and kept its overweight rating. Both moves followed the company’s September 30, 2026 Investor Day.
Two firms coming to the same conclusion points to growing Wall Street confidence that Synopsys can turn AI-driven chip complexity into faster earnings growth.

Analyst’s Case: Investor Day Targets Beat Expectations
BofA analyst Vivek Arya said the firm “came away impressed”. Management’s targets mean pro-forma EPS compound annual growth of 23% from FY26-30, which BofA called “well ahead” of consensus. After the meeting, BofA raised its FY27 and FY28 pro-forma EPS estimates by 7% and 16%, respectively.
KeyBanc pointed to much better-than-expected initial FY27 guidance, higher long-term EDA and IP growth targets, significant operating margin expansion, and new partnerships with AWS and OpenAI. In KeyBanc’s view, the event answered many of the bears’ concerns and showed that EDA remains a compelling opportunity at current levels.
Company Snapshot: AI Demand Meets Ansys Scale
Synopsys makes electronic design automation (EDA) software and silicon IP. Its about $35B Ansys acquisition makes it a “silicon-to-systems” engineering provider.
In fiscal Q3 2026, revenue reached $2.48B, up 42.4% year over year and ahead of the $2.44B consensus. Non-GAAP EPS of $3.91 exceeded the $3.67 estimate. Management raised full-year guidance to revenue of $9.69B to $9.74B and non-GAAP EPS of $15.04 to $15.10.
CEO Sassine Ghazi said at the time that “AI is driving unprecedented complexity and increasing demand for the silicon IP and engineering solutions necessary to deliver next-generation AI compute, infrastructure and physical AI systems.”
Why the Move Matters Now for Synopsys Stock
Synopsys announced two deals alongside Investor Day: GPT-Synopsys, a collaboration with OpenAI, and a multi-year custom silicon IP agreement with AWS. Shares traded at $475.70 Thursday morning. That was up 9.37% in the session and 15.16% over the past week.
Before the rally, the stock was up just 1.27% year to date and down 3.59% over the past year. Higher earnings estimates could support the move if management delivers on its new targets.
What It Means for Your Portfolio
A 23% EPS growth framework from a company with a $10.9 billion backlog sets a high bar for long-term investors. Execution risk remains, though.
Management has flagged export controls, tariffs, customer concentration, Ansys integration, and planned Q4 restructuring charges. The joint Synopsys and Ansys products are not expected to add to EDA growth until 2027.
The next checkpoint is Q4, where guidance calls for revenue of $2.53B to $2.58B and non-GAAP EPS of $4.10 to $4.16. Keep an eye on the stock as those results test the new outlook.
