Trump Media Falls 5% Toward $6 With Earnings Ahead; Rumble Ticks Up
Trump Media stock is sliding toward a record low just as a major quarterly report looms, and the results could either validate the bulls or confirm that this is a digital-asset fund wearing a media platform's clothing.
The company’s next quarterly report is coming up. Trump Media & Technology Group (NASDAQ:DJT) is testing against the bottom of its 52-week range, even as a fellow alternative media stock edges higher. Trump Media stock is at $6.05 in morning trading, down 5%.
Rumble (NASDAQ:RUM) stock is at $5.76, up 0.8%. Meanwhile, the Communication Services Select Sector SPDR Fund (NYSEARCA:XLC) is at $102.89, down 0.7%.
The broader market, tracked by the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust (NYSEARCA:SPY), is at $770.39, up 0.1%. Against both funds, Trump Media’s drop stands out from its sector and from the S&P 500.
What’s Pushing Trump Media Toward Its 52-Week Low
The latest drop adds to a steep, steady decline for Trump Media shares. Over the past month, Trump Media stock is down 34%. Measured year to date, the stock is down 54%. Across the past year, the loss reaches 62%.
That decline leaves Trump Media just above its 52-week low of $5.94 and far below its 52-week high of $17.09. Some of the pressure matches weakness in communication services stocks, as the XLC ETF’s dip shows, though Trump Media’s losses run much deeper.
Before the report, Trump Media runs the Truth Social platform, the Truth+ streaming service and the Truth.Fi financial brand. The company holds approximately $1.9 billion in financial assets, including cash, digital assets, equity securities and short-term investments.
Against that asset base, Trump Media brings in very little revenue and still runs at a significant loss. In its Q2 2026 results, the company’s revenue came to $1.7 million and its net loss reached $238.1 million. Of that loss, $190.4 million came from unrealized losses on digital assets and equity securities. Non-cash items tied to those valuations make up most of Trump Media’s reported losses, so swings in crypto and the stock market drive much of its results.
Trump Media Leans on Truth API and a Fusion Merger
Management’s first strategic push is Truth API, a business-to-business data licensing product that gives institutional customers low-latency access to public Truth Social posts. Launched on August 1, Trump Media’s product already has more than ten customer agreements signed. Scrutiny has followed, and 24/7 Wall St. reported in August that Trump Media’s chief executive defended Truth API as standard media industry practice.
Alongside that, Trump Media is seeking a merger with TAE Technologies, a fusion energy company, and expects the pending deal to close in Q4 2026, subject to regulatory and closing conditions. Kevin McGurn was then chief executive. At the time of the Q2 report, he called the merger “the most important driver of long-term shareholder value and a natural extension of our commitment to building durable, un-cancellable infrastructure, this time in energy security.”
Rumble offers a useful contrast as it edges higher. Over the past month, Rumble stock is down 31%, a decline nearly as steep as Trump Media’s. Year to date, Rumble stock is down 9%, a far smaller loss than Trump Media has taken this year.
With Rumble holding up, the selling looks concentrated in Trump Media itself. Rumble’s business is heading in a different direction, building artificial intelligence (AI) and graphics processing unit (GPU) cloud infrastructure through its Northern Data deal and adding crypto tools for creators. Trump Media, by contrast, increasingly looks like a digital-asset treasury wrapped in a media platform.
Trump Media’s Quarterly Report Tests Its 52-Week Low
A key test for Trump Media is whether the stock holds its 52-week low or breaks below it. The report will show whether sales are growing. It will also reveal how much traction Truth API has gained and how much of Trump Media’s bottom line comes from swings in digital-asset values.
The bulls can point to a large balance sheet, a new recurring-revenue product and a pending merger that could transform Trump Media. At the same time, the bears could counter with tiny revenue, losses that track crypto prices and the risk that the TAE Technologies deal fails to close.
Traders might also watch for any update on Trump Media’s merger timeline alongside the results. The outcome of the test of Trump Media’s 52-week low could shape sentiment once it settles.
