XRP Price Prediction for September: Will XRP Hit $2?

XRP rallied 70% in August but still sits nearly 43% below a price it last touched in January, and three converging forces in September could either push it over the edge or prove that barrier unbreakable.

XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) trades around $1.40 today, so the coin needs a 42.9% gain to reach $2 by September 30. XRP performed well in August, rallying about 70% from a low of $0.99 to a high of $1.66.

With XRP ETFs currently posting strong net inflow numbers and the Senate scheduled to hold a Cloture vote on the CLARITY Act on September 15, can XRP reach $2 by the end of September?

How Much Would XRP Need to Reach $2?

He holds a beige landline phone to his right ear and gestures with his left hand. In front of him are two large computer monitors displaying dark interfaces with colorful stock market graphs and numerical financial data. To the left, a television screen shows two news anchors. On the desk, there is a small green potted plant, a metal pen holder filled with colorful pens, a computer keyboard, and another beige landline phone. XRP currently trades near $1.40, after falling from a high of $1.66 on August 22, but the coin is still up from its August low of $0.99. XRP needs a 42.9% gain to reach $2, which is a smaller rally than the 70% gain the coin posted earlier this month.

The last time XRP closed above $2 was on January 17 this year, after the coin reached $2.41 in early January. By the end of June, XRP had fallen to $1.04 and continued to fall until it fell below $1 in mid-August for the first time since 2024. Every rally attempt since February to close above $2 has failed. The closest XRP has come was this month, when it peaked at $1.66 on August 22 before falling back to $1.44.

XRP has had impressive single-month rallies in the past. The XRP price gained 281.7% in November 2024, 174.1% in April 2021, and 122.1% in January 2021, which are all larger gains than the 42.9% the coin needs to reach $2 in September.

XRP price could reach $2 in September if the Senate passes the cloture vote on the CLARITY Act, XRP ETF inflows keep growing, and Bitcoin holds its recent gains.

The CLARITY Act’s September 15 Cloture Vote

The Senate went on recess on August 8 with the CLARITY Act, the bill that would classify XRP and some other digital assets as digital commodities under Federal rules, stalling and barely enjoying any attention on the Senate floor.

However, Senate Majority Leader John Thune filed for a cloture motion, a procedural step to end all debate and move the bill closer to a final vote. The cloture vote is scheduled for September 15 and needs 60 votes to pass.

If the cloture motion gets the 60 votes it needs to pass, the Senate could hold a final vote on the bill, which could give XRP’s price the push to reach $2.

Spot XRP ETF Inflows Keep Growing

Spot XRP ETFs recorded $110.49 million in net inflows for the week ending August 28, per SoSoValue, a record high for weekly total in 2026. This record inflow pushed the funds’ cumulative inflows past $1.66 billion and total net assets across the funds past $1.44 billion.

ETF issuers must purchase XRP on the open market when new money enters their funds, so continued weekly inflows above $100 million would keep pulling tokens off exchanges and reduce the supply available to sell.

If XRP ETFs can hold the current weekly inflow pace through September, the reduced supply could make it easier for XRP to hold its gains as the coin approaches $2.

Bitcoin Holding Its Recent Gains

Bitcoin recently traded above $80,000 on August 25 for the first time in several months, and the broader market enjoyed the bullish momentum, with Ethereum gaining around 30%, XRP around 38%, and Solana near 39% over the last two weeks. XRP’s price has typically moved in relation to Bitcoin’s price, so a fall in Bitcoin’s price would likely negatively affect XRP’s price.

If Bitcoin instead breaks and holds above $80,000 through September, investors would have more confidence to keep buying large altcoins such as XRP.

Could XRP Hit $2 in September?

XRP could realistically reach $2 in September, but it is a close call because the coin has struggled to break that level in almost 8 months. XRP peaked at $1.70 on August 22, then fell back to $1.44 and hasn’t closed above that level since.

XRP needs to maintain a strong bullish run, break through the $1.70 resistance level where sellers are active, and attract sufficient buying pressure, which the passage of the CLARITY Act, possibly in September, could help the coin achieve. Regardless, we expect XRP to end September between $1.50 and $1.80.

However, our view would change if the Senate passes the cloture motion and immediately assigns a date for the final vote on the CLARITY Act. XRP ETF weekly inflows would have to be above $110 million throughout September, and BTC price would need to hold above $80,000 throughout the month. If all three happen, XRP would easily clear the $1.70 and $1.83 resistance levels and reach $2 in September.
