Bitcoin, Ethereum or XRP: We Asked AI Models Which Gets Back to Its All-Time High First
Three AI models agreed on which cryptocurrency closes its all-time high gap first, but their confidence levels told a very different story about how rocky the road back could get.

In our latest analysis, we asked AI models—ChatGPT, Grok, and Gemini— to evaluate which cryptocurrency among Bitcoin (CRYPTO: BTC), Ethereum (CRYPTO: ETH), and XRP (CRYPTO: XRP) is likely to bounce back to its all-time high first. All three models gave the same ranking: Bitcoin led, followed by Ethereum, with XRP trailing.
While the models agreed on the order, they differed in confidence. ChatGPT estimated a 55% chance of Bitcoin reaching its record high first; Grok was slightly more optimistic at 58%, and Gemini was the most confident, giving Bitcoin a 70% probability. This raises an interesting question: how much should we rely on these AI predictions when all three cryptocurrencies remain significantly below their previous peaks?
Bitcoin Has the Smallest Gap to Its All-Time High

Starting from their respective previous highs—$126,080 for Bitcoin, $4,946 for Ethereum, and $3.65 for XRP—we looked at the market as of October 1, 2026. At that time, Bitcoin was trading around $84,670, Ethereum at $2,699, and XRP at $1.49.
To reach their former highs, Bitcoin needs a gain of about 49%, Ethereum requires around 83%, and XRP must climb approximately 145%. As a result, the ranking aligns almost perfectly with the size of the gap each cryptocurrency must close.
Gemini highlighted the specific dollar amount Bitcoin needs to regain its past glory, saying it would require about $820 billion in market value to reach $126,080.
Ethereum Has the Stronger Run, but Bitcoin Has the Bigger Fund Base

In terms of recent performance, Ethereum has shown more significant growth. Over the 90 days leading up to October 1, Ethereum climbed about 53%, while Bitcoin gained around 33% and XRP only 31%. This shows Ethereum is closing the gap faster than Bitcoin and XRP.
Despite this momentum, the AI models still favored Bitcoin. Grok noted that U.S. spot Bitcoin exchange-traded funds (ETFs), which hold Bitcoin and trade similarly to shares, have approximately $108 billion in assets. In comparison, Ethereum funds have $17.8 billion, and XRP funds only $1.8 billion. Grok mentioned that these funds hold nearly 6% of Bitcoin’s total supply.
ChatGPT added that financial forecasts support Bitcoin’s potential, citing Citi’s target of $113,000 for Bitcoin, which is only about 10% below its all-time high, while their target for Ethereum at $3,028 is 39% lower than its peak.
XRP Has the Biggest Upside and the Lowest Chance of a Record

ChatGPT predicts Bitcoin could close 2026 around $100,000, Ethereum at approximately $3,400, and XRP near $2.05. Similarly, Gemini projects year-end prices of $108,500, $3,450, and $2.15, respectively. Although XRP shows the highest percentage gain potential—ranging from 38% to 44%—its chances of being the first to reach its all-time high are quite low. ChatGPT assigned XRP only a 15% probability, while Gemini placed it at just 8%.
This skepticism about XRP stems from the fact that even a 40% increase over three months would still leave it far short of its high at $3.65, requiring a 145% surge.
Additionally, Gemini noted that new XRP supplies entering the market might dilute demand per token. ChatGPT pointed out that Evernorth’s 473 million XRP represents only a small fraction of XRP’s $95 billion market value. Grok observed that XRP’s previous record in 2025 was more of a fleeting spike than a sustainable price level.
Which Gets Back to Its All-Time High First, Bitcoin, Ethereum or XRP?
Overall, Bitcoin appears to have the strongest chance of regaining its all-time high first. It has the smallest gap to cover, the largest amount of invested funds, and the smallest decline over the past year—down about 30%, compared with Ethereum’s 38% and XRP’s 50% drops.
However, the timeline is crucial. ChatGPT’s prediction of $100,000 by year-end still leaves Bitcoin about 21% shy of its all-time high, and the models indicate potential recovery timelines extending into mid-2027.
The immediate critical test for Bitcoin is to surpass its recent high of $87,500, followed by the significant threshold of $100,000. If Bitcoin falls below $80,000, it could hinder its progress and allow Ethereum to narrow its gap further. If Ethereum exceeds $4,946 before Bitcoin returns to $126,080, it would suggest the AI models may have miscalculated the recovery order.
