DTCC’s CEO Joined Chainlink on Stage a Day After Its Tokenization Launch. What Would It Take for LINK to Get Back to $20?

Wall Street's top clearinghouse just put its CEO on a Chainlink stage one day after launching a tokenization service, yet LINK still trades far below where it was a year ago. The real question is whether this wave of institutional…

On October 29, 2026, Frank La Salla, the CEO of DTCC, took the stage alongside Chainlink (CRYPTO:LINK) co-founder Sergey Nazarov during the Link:NYC event, a day after DTCC unveiled its new tokenization service. DTCC is Wall Street’s clearinghouse, the company behind the infrastructure that settles U.S. stock trades. La Salla told the crowd that Chainlink has the potential to “unlock billions of dollars in trapped liquidity.”

LINK is priced at $11.73, up 5.1% over the previous 24 hours, after dipping to $10.60, its lowest point in a month. Despite the recent uptick, LINK is still down 18.4% over the last 30 days and remains 77.7% below its all-time high of $52.70, reached in May 2021.

The desire for LINK to return to $20 is rooted in its trading history, having traded there as recently as 2025, when it opened October 2025 at $21.32. So can a wave of Wall Street attention drive LINK back to $20?

What a $20 LINK Would Be Worth

Market capitalization reflects a token’s price multiplied by the total supply of coins in circulation. LINK’s market cap is about $8.99 billion, with 766.85 million LINK in circulation out of a maximum supply of 1 billion, making it the 15th largest cryptocurrency by market cap.

To reach $15, LINK would need to rise 27.9%, bringing its market cap to $11.5 billion. To hit $20, it would need to climb 70.5%, for a market cap of $15.34 billion.

New tokens entering circulation make those targets harder to reach. About 233.15 million LINK tokens remain unreleased, and each unlock adds to the capital required to hold any given price. If every potential token were circulating, LINK’s fully diluted value would reach $20 billion at $20.

LINK has crossed the $20 mark before, in January, July, August, September, and October of 2025, peaking at $27.87 in August 2025. However, it has closed below $15 every month since December 2025, with a low of $7.19 recorded on June 30, 2026.

Chainlink 24/7 and Aave Could Create Chainlink’s Clearest Fee Demand

On October 29, 2026, Chainlink launched its 24/7 service, providing continuous prices for tokenized stocks, commodities, and other real-world assets, even when traditional markets are closed. A tokenized stock is a blockchain token that mirrors a real share. Aave, a prominent crypto lending platform, partnered with Chainlink to use its feeds for Horizon, its institutional lending platform.

Of the recent announcements, the 24/7 service could most directly create fee demand. Lenders need constant price data to decide when to liquidate a loan by selling a borrower’s collateral, and Chainlink’s price feeds come with a cost. Chainlink has also created a Reserve to build a strategic LINK holding. Any buying tied to usage still has to move a coin that traded $339 million in a single day.

DTCC and S&P Global Have Boosted Chainlink’s Reputation, Not Yet Its Fees

DTCC’s tokenization announcement in May 2026 and its July pilot created buzz, but LINK’s price barely reacted. The token opened May 2026 at $9.10 and closed the month at $9.14. So far, DTCC’s involvement has mostly boosted Chainlink’s reputation, since no public fee structure has been set for LINK.

On October 28, 2026, Chainlink put S&P Global (NYSE:SPGI | SPGI Price Prediction) vault risk assessments on the Base blockchain network, owned by Coinbase (NASDAQ:COIN). These assessments weigh the risk of a crypto lending vault for depositors, considering loan quality, liquidity, and more.

A similar announcement has happened before. S&P and Chainlink put stablecoin assessments on-chain on October 14, 2025, and LINK’s price still fell from $21.32 to $17.23 that month. For now, the S&P deal mostly helps Chainlink’s credibility rather than its fees.

Can LINK Reach $20 by the End of 2027?

LINK looks unlikely to reach $20 by the end of 2026, with only a modest chance by the end of 2027. Chainlink also had notable partnerships in 2025, and LINK still couldn’t hold above $20. The token must first clear the 50-day moving average at $12.62, then clear $15. Its best close in 90 days was $15.44 on September 28, 2026, before it pulled back.

Serious talk of $20 could pick up once LINK closes above $15 in a month, last done in October 2025, and once Aave’s feeds start showing visible revenue. If the partnerships stay reputation-only, LINK could drift toward the 200-day average of $10, putting the $7.19 low back in play. A monthly close above $15 in 2027 could make $20 look realistic, while a close below $10 could push $20 into the next cycle.
