Charles B. Stockdale, John Harrington

Streaming services have in many cases become the premiere platforms for today’s most acclaimed new series. They also offer viewers access to some of the most beloved shows from years past.

Companies such as Netflix, Hulu, and Amazon have assembled massive libraries of content. These include classic shows that audiences at one time had to either hope to catch reruns on network television or purchase on home video. These shows can now be watched at any time with the click of a button.

To help viewers navigate these options, 24/7 Tempo has identified the best classic TV shows that are available to stream right now. We ranked these acclaimed series based on audience ratings from the Internet Movie Database (IMDb).

With many state and local governments continuing to ask residents to stay at home due to the coronavirus, some people may be seeking even more top content to stream. Here are the 50 best movies available to stream that you’ve never seen before.

To determine the best classic TV shows that are available to stream, 24/7 Tempo identified all of the shows available for streaming based on data from website JustWatch that originally debuted prior to 2000. We then ranked the series based on their Internet Movie Database average user ratings, weighted by the number of votes each series received. Editorial discretion was then applied to include or omit titles that we felt did not match the classification of “classic.”
