States With the Most Veterans

To identify the states with the most veterans, 24/7 Wall St. reviewed the veteran status of the civilian population 18 years and older from the U.S Census Bureau’s 2018 American Community Survey.

Veteran age, disability status, labor force participation rates (the percentage of working age veterans who are employed or looking for work), and percentage of veterans that fought in each major U.S conflict also came from the ACS.

The number of homeless veterans, sheltered and unsheltered, is from the 2019 Annual Homelessness Assessment Report Point-in-Time Estimates of Homelessness, which is delivered to the U.S Congress by the Department of Housing and Urban Development.
