Palantir (NASDAQ:PLTR | PLTR Price Prediction) has been the AI trade’s mascot and lightning rod. After a searing multi-year run, the stock has cooled sharply in 2026, giving bulls and skeptics fresh ammunition. Our proprietary model sees room to run, but the setup is more nuanced than current price action suggests.

The stock trades at $125.96 as of August 3, 2026. Our 24/7 Wall St. price target is $157.22 over the next 12 months, implying 24.83% upside. Our recommendation is buy with high conviction (90% confidence).

A Painful 2026 That Masks a Blowout Quarter

PLTR is down 30.77% year to date and 22.29% over the past year, sitting 12% below its 52-week high of $207.52.

Yet fundamentals move the other way. Q1 2026 revenue landed at $1.63 billion, up 84.71% year over year, with adjusted EPS of $0.33 beating consensus by 18.07%. U.S. commercial revenue grew 133%, and management raised full-year 2026 guidance to $7.65 billion to $7.662 billion, roughly 71% growth.

The disconnect between price and results reflects valuation compression while business quality remains strong.

Why Bulls See a Breakout Ahead

The bull case rests on a Rule of 40 score of 145%, which CEO Alex Karp noted is “matched only by other fellow AI infrastructure companies: NVIDIA, Micron and SK hynix”.

U.S. commercial remaining deal value hit $4.92 billion (up 112%), net dollar retention hit 150%, and adjusted operating margin expanded to 60%. If AIP adoption continues, our bull scenario sees PLTR reaching $201.63, a 60.08% gain.

The Street’s consensus target of $182.20, supported by 20 Buy ratings, sits inside that range.

What Could Go Wrong

At a trailing P/E of 138 and forward P/E of 84, any deceleration matters. Stock-based compensation of $201.6 million in Q1 alone is meaningful, though bulls note this reflects aggressive engineering investment in AIP as legacy contracts carry termination for convenience risk.

Insider activity has skewed toward selling, and our bear-case scenario puts PLTR at $138.77. Reddit sentiment cooled from peak scores of 65 in late July to unclassified by August 2, hinting retail conviction is thinning.

How Palantir Stacks Up Against ServiceNow and Snowflake

ServiceNow (NYSE:NOW) is the closest enterprise-AI platform peer at scale. NOW posted Q2 2026 revenue of $3.99 billion, up 24%, with FY26 subscription guidance of $15.76 to $15.78 billion, roughly 22.5% growth. Palantir is growing three times as fast at similar margins, justifying a valuation premium and making our $157.22 target look conservative on a growth-adjusted basis.

Snowflake (NYSE:SNOW) trades on the same AI-data thesis. SNOW’s Q1 FY27 revenue grew 33.5% to $1.39 billion, but remains GAAP-unprofitable with operating losses of $326 million. Palantir’s GAAP net income of $870.5 million puts it in a different profitability league, another reason our target embeds room above current levels.

The Verdict: Buy the Compression

The bullish thesis rests on the gap between Palantir’s 85% revenue growth and its 30% YTD stock decline eventually closing. The bearish view assumes a broader software multiple reset is still ahead. Our call: the $157.22 price target with 90% confidence and a buy rating reflects a stock punished for its multiple while execution remains strong.

Our model projects Palantir could trade as follows, assuming current growth and margin trajectories hold. The base case implies roughly 14% annualized returns anchored to the 5-year target of $242.26.

Year 24/7 Wall St. Price Target
2026 $135
2027 $160
2028 $185
2029 $213
2030 $242

These projections assume Palantir continues executing on U.S. commercial AIP adoption and government expansion. Meaningful upside or downside could result from AI regulation, defense-budget shifts, or a broader software valuation reset.
