The FTSE 100 opened effectively flat on September 8 while the DAX opened down 0.35%, the first visible split in European risk appetite this week.

London's calm leaves UK large caps stronger than their continental peers at the open, with the Bank of England rate at 3.75%.

After recent turbulence, the FTSE is holding its range in the 14,600s, having yet to reclaim ground lost over the past several sessions.

With CAC 40 data unavailable at the open, the DAX's decline is the clearest sign continental Europe is carrying more pressure than London this session.
