Three years ago, $10,000 split between the two biggest names in the attention economy would look very different today: Spotify turned it into $37,750, Netflix into $16,481. That $21,000 gap is the cost of picking the wrong streaming winner.

Moderna's 17.8% drop was the single biggest move at Tuesday's close, and four of the five worst performers were chip and photonics names. Spotify topped the winners.
Spotify opened up 10.5% to lead a 389-name board, with Lockheed Martin close behind at 9.3%. The pain is concentrated in chip gear and optics, where Lam Research gave up 10.2% at the bell.
Spotify's own year-end guide of 316 million paid subscribers tops expectations, keeping the subscriber beat streak alive heading into a crowded streaming field.

A four-quarter beat streak just ended, with EPS missing expectations even as revenue came in 12% above consensus. Q4 guidance still points to continued expansion, with operating income guided to about 820 million euros.
Spotify reports before the open at 6:00 AM ET, its first chance to snap a streak broken in August when earnings of $3.03 came in missing expectations of $3.27. Consensus sits at $2.85 EPS, with pricing power and subscriber growth behind the setup.
Spotify closed the session's best performer at 5.24%, taking the stock to $513.73. GoPro, MicroStrategy, Iren, Applied Optoelectronics and Lucid all shed more than 6%.
A 6% intraday jump to $516.01 adds roughly $6 billion of market value to the streaming giant in a single session, the kind of one-day move this $106 billion name rarely makes. Keep an eye on whether it holds the gain into the close.
Nearly 20 points separated the best and worst names at Friday's close: Iren gave up 12.72% while Workday added 6.38%. Three losers dropped more than 10% in a single session, a reset worth checking before Monday.
