About UnitedHealth Group

UnitedHealth Group is a healthcare and well-being company operating through two complementary businesses. UnitedHealthcare provides a full range of health benefits including commercial employer-sponsored and individual plans, Medicare Advantage, Medicare Supplement, Medicaid managed care, and Medicare Part D prescription drug coverage, serving 48.3 million medical members. Optum delivers technology-enabled health services through three divisions: Optum Health provides care delivery and value-based care serving approximately 92 million consumers; Optum Insight offers analytics, technology solutions, and AI-enabled services to payers, providers, and life sciences companies; and Optum Rx provides pharmacy care services and transparent pharmacy benefit management, processing approximately 393 million adjusted scripts per quarter. The company is actively pursuing initiatives around prior authorization reform, transparent pharmacy pricing including a fee-based PBM model, and affordability programs such as voluntary profit elimination on ACA individual coverage. It is also divesting its remaining South American operations as part of a strategic portfolio review. Updated

$377.13
-5.07%open $397.26

A 5.1% slide to $377.13 erases roughly $18 billion from the largest US health insurer on the day of its Q3 earnings report, where a beat sat alongside the Medicare exit impact. Moves this size are rare for a Dow component this big.

Regular session
$375.74
-5.42%open $397.26

A 5.4% slide to $375.74 is a rare one-day drop for a $337 billion insurer, and it comes on an earnings report where a Q3 beat was offset by the Medicare exit impact. Keep an eye on whether buyers step in near the lows.

UnitedHealth reports at 5:55 AM ET, with analysts looking for $4.15 in EPS on $111.49 billion in revenue. The last two quarters cleared estimates by wide margins, so guidance on Medicare Advantage margins and the widening DOJ antitrust probe will set the tone for the stock.
