Did Apple sell 700,000 iPads On First Day

The estimates for first day sales of the Apple (AAPL) iPad have begun to come out. They are useless, educated guesses at the best. Apple has not give out any numbers and may never. That makes analyst figures academic unless they had a person at ever cash register at every Apple store.
Gene Munster of Piper Jaffray, a notorious Apple bull, says the company sold between 600,000 and 700,000 units of the tablet the first day. He had predicted the figure would be 200,000 to 300,000. Munster’s reasoning was based on simple and crude reasoning. Apple stores have “longer than expected lines.”
