Markets in Asia were up sharply.

The Nikkei rose 1.2% to 16,845. Bridgestone was up 1.7% to 2445. Canon was up 1.5% to 6220. Fuji Film was up 2.6% to 4750. Hitachi was up 1.5% to 809. Honda was up .2% to 4250. NEC was up .3% to 589. NTT was up 1.7% to 602000. Docomo was up .5% to 205000. Sharp was up 2.2% to 2135. Softbank was up 5.7% to 2710. Sony was up 4.1% to 5890. Toshiba was up 2.4% to 724. Toyota was up 3.5% to 7720. Yahoo Japan was up 1.8% to 41750.

The Hang Seng was up 2.1% to 19,059. Cathay Pacific was up 2.2% to 18.86. China Mobile was up 2.1% to 68.75. China Netcom was up 2.8% to 17.1. China Unicom was up 1.2% to 9.24. HSBC was up 2.6% to 136.5. PCCW was up .7% to 4.64.

The KOSPI was up 2% to 1,403.

The Straits Times was up 1.7% to 3,034.

The Shanghai Composite was up 2% to 2,840.
