Markets in Europe were modestly higher at 5.40 AM New York time.

The FTSE was up .4% to 6,315. Barclays was down 1.6% to 730. BP was up 1% to 584. BT was up .1% to 303.75. GSK was down .2% to 1387. Prudential was up .1% to 724. Reuters was up .1% to 464. Unilever was up 1.1% to 1496. Vodafone was up .5% to 140.7.

The DAXX was up .5% to 6,866. Bayer was up .3% to 45.96. Daimler was up 3.5% to 62.33. Deutschbank was up .1% to 99.04. Deutche Telekom was down .2% to 12.49. SAP was flat at 33.98. Siemens was up .3% to 81.63.

The CAC 40 was up .5% to 5,603. Alcatel-Lucent was down .3% to 8.87. AXA was up 1% to 31.93. France Telecom was down .9% to 19.7. ST Micro was up 2% to 14.57. Vivendi was up .9% to 30.42.
