Prediction: AMD’s Next Move Could Be HUGE and Here’s Where The Stock is Going
AMD has surged nearly 200% in a year, and the Helios GPU ramp is just getting started, but a stretched valuation and export policy risks mean the next move could break either way in a hurry.
Advanced Micro Devices (NASDAQ:AMD | AMD Price Prediction) has ripped higher through 2026, with the stock up 123.75% year to date as data center revenue more than doubled and hyperscaler deals kept stacking up. The question now is whether the run has more room.
Our 24/7 Wall St. price target for AMD is $629.60, implying 31.39% upside from the current $479.18. We rate the shares a buy with high confidence.

A Rally That Just Cooled Off Ahead of Helios
AMD has climbed from roughly $163.36 a year ago to $479.18, a 193.33% one-year gain. Shares slipped 8.19% over the past month and sit about 5% off the $584.73 52-week high.
Q2 FY2026 revenue hit $11.54 billion, up 50.11% year over year, with non-GAAP EPS of $1.66 beating the $1.6107 consensus. Data Center revenue grew 107% to $6.72 billion. Management guided Q3 to approximately $13 billion, roughly 41% YoY growth.
Why Bulls See a Breakout Ahead
The bull case rests on AMD’s rack-scale AI ramp. Lisa Su described “customer pull for Helios is very strong and tracking ahead of our initial forecasts,” with Anthropic committing to up to two gigawatts of MI450 series GPUs, layered on top of gigawatt-scale deals with OpenAI and Meta.
Management now expects the AI accelerator market to reach approximately $1.4 trillion by 2030 and Data Center revenue to more than double year-over-year in 2027. Our bull-case one-year path lands at $653.56, roughly 36.39% upside, with a five-year bull path pointing above $1,000.
What Could Go Wrong
The bear case starts with valuation. AMD trades at a trailing P/E of 121 and a forward P/E near 64, leaving little room for a Helios yield miss. Gaming revenue fell 31%, and Data Center AI gross margin runs slightly below corporate average. Export controls remain a wildcard, with $440 million in FY2025 inventory charges tied to China restrictions.
Counterpoint: server CPU growth is accretive to gross margin, and management sees embedded providing an added 2027 tailwind. Our bear-case path lands at $481.01, essentially flat.
How AMD Compares to NVIDIA and Intel
NVIDIA (NASDAQ:NVDA) is the direct AI accelerator rival. NVIDIA trades at a trailing P/E near 43 with Q1 FY2027 revenue of $81.6 billion (up 85.2% YoY) and gross margins near 75%.
AMD is growing off a smaller base and trades at a richer multiple, which frames our target as reasonable rather than aggressive: bulls pay up for AMD because it is the credible No. 2 in a market Jensen Huang calls the largest infrastructure buildout in history.
Intel (NASDAQ:INTC) is the x86 server competitor. Intel’s DCAI revenue grew 59% to $6.26 billion in Q2 FY2026, but the company remains barely profitable with negative TTM earnings and gross margins near 35%. AMD’s 56% non-GAAP gross margin and server share gains make the premium multiple look earned, supporting our buy.
Where the Setup Stands From Here
The 24/7 Wall St. price target is $629.60, a buy at 90% confidence. The tipping factor is the visibility on Helios and MI450 deployments through 2027.
The setup looks constructive if Helios ramps on schedule into Q4 and Q1 2027 as guided. The thesis weakens if MI400 yields slip or China export rules tighten materially.
| Year | 24/7 Wall St. Price Target |
|---|---|
| 2026 | $524.79 |
| 2027 | $652.62 |
| 2028 | $775.64 |
| 2029 | $880.54 |
| 2030 | $917.54 |
These projections assume AMD executes on the annual rack-scale cadence and Data Center revenue trajectory. Significant upside or downside could result from Helios ramp speed, HBM allocation, and export policy shifts. The traits that showed up in past 100x semiconductor winners are the same ones we cataloged in a free playbook here.
