Bitcoin Is Up 7.1% and Solana 5.3% This Month. Ethereum Is Down 0.7% and XRP 1.4%. What Separates Them?

Bitcoin and Solana are climbing while Ethereum and XRP slip below zero, but the weekly chart scrambles that ranking in a way that puts one surprise coin at the bottom of the pack.

Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) is up 7.1% over the last 30 days, while Solana (CRYPTO:SOL) is up 5.3%. In contrast, Ethereum (CRYPTO:ETH) is down 0.7%, and XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) is down 1.4%. Notably, crypto ETF flows are starting to mirror this division.

This split leaves two cryptocurrencies on either side of the zero mark. Although the contrast is clear on a monthly chart, it’s a relatively recent development, and the weekly data tells a different story for these four coins.

Ethereum and XRP Slipped Below Zero in a Single Update

Ethereum and XRP dropped below zero after a single update. Just a day earlier, Ethereum’s 30-day performance was up 0.8%, and XRP was up 1.3%. Their sudden decline suggests that the divide isn’t well-established and could easily change again.

The 30-day figure is a rolling measure that compares the current price to the price from exactly a month ago. Each day, the starting point shifts, so if a coin had a strong performance a month ago, that higher price becomes the new baseline, causing the 30-day figure to decline even if the coin hasn’t moved much recently.

Many investors interpret a drop below zero as a sign of new selling pressure. However, in many cases, the change reflects a shift in the time window rather than a new wave of selling. The recent decline for Ethereum and XRP likely stems more from this shift than from actual market sentiment.

The Weekly Chart Sorts the Four Coins Differently

Over the last week, all four coins have decreased in value. Bitcoin is down 0.9%, while Ethereum has dropped 4.3%, XRP is down 6.9%, and Solana has faced a 9.8% decline. On a weekly basis, Bitcoin is the only coin to post a loss, while the other three are down significantly, ranging from 4% to almost 10%.

Solana stands out in this context. Despite its positive monthly gain, it ranks lowest over the past week, suggesting that its monthly rise may not be as solid as it first appears.

Crypto ETF Flows Line Up With the 30-Day Order

Fund flows tend to align more closely with the monthly performance than the weekly changes. Fund flows track the net money coming into or out of investment funds that hold these cryptocurrencies. Thus, they provide insight into what investors are doing through regular brokerage accounts.

On October 13, 2026, Bitcoin funds attracted $175.6 million, marking their second-largest inflow of the month. In contrast, Ethereum funds finally recorded their first inflow after ten consecutive days of outflows. Meanwhile, Solana faced outflows on eight of nine days in October, and XRP funds reported no net movement on five of nine days, including the last three. On October 13, trading of XRP fund shares hit a low of just $20.5 million.

This data shows Bitcoin is attracting the most investment and posting strong monthly gains, while Ethereum funds are just starting to show signs of life after previous outflows. Solana’s ongoing outflows align more closely with its recent weakness than with its monthly gains. XRP investors appear to be holding back for now.

However, fund flows and price movements are interconnected. Increased prices can attract more investment into funds, and fund inflows can drive prices up. So, while these two factors often align, it’s not always clear which one drives the other.

So What Separates Bitcoin and Solana From Ethereum and XRP?

The key difference seems to lie in fund demand, as Bitcoin is currently the only cryptocurrency attracting significant new investment. The other three coins seem to be clustered together, as Solana’s weaker weekly performance suggests it might not be as strong as its 5.3% monthly gain indicates.

Ethereum’s first inflow in ten days is a crucial signal to watch moving forward. If its funds continue to see positive inflows and its 30-day performance improves, the landscape could shift to three coins above zero, with only XRP below. If Solana’s funds continue to see outflows, its monthly gain may also slip below zero. And if XRP’s funds start seeing genuine inflows after a period of stagnation, it could change its position in this lineup.

Overall, these movements highlight a dynamic, ever-changing market, making it essential for investors to stay alert to these trends.
