XRP (CRYPTO:XRP) needs to rise about 12% over the next nine days to finish October at its opening price of $1.49. XRP is at $1.33, down 2% in the last 24 hours, 10.7% for the month, and 13.8% over the past 30 days. XRP also trades 63.5% below its all-time high of $3.65.
In October, XRP hit a high of $1.56 on October 2 but also fell to a low of $1.255 on October 18. During the week of October 19, XRP fluctuated between $1.28 and $1.40.
Some October 19 headlines even suggested a potential target of $15 for XRP. However, most holders are focused on an immediate level. With an October open at $1.49, the question now is how close XRP can get to that mark by October 31.
A Close at $1.49 Would Be XRP’s Best Monthly Close Since January

If XRP can close the month at $1.49, it would erase October’s losses and match September’s closing price. This would also mark XRP’s highest monthly close since January, when it finished at $1.65.
However, XRP has been trading in a narrow range for much of 2026. Since February, monthly closes have ranged from $1.04 in June to $1.49 in September. The token started the year at around $1.84 and has fallen about 27.7% so far.
In comparison, XRP traded significantly higher one year ago, concluding October 2025 at $2.51 after reaching a peak of $3.10 that month. Therefore, even if XRP fully recovers in October, it would still be about 41% below last October’s closing price because of the significant 2026 drop.
Spot XRP ETF Inflows Have Slowed Sharply

Spot XRP ETFs directly hold XRP, and when new money enters these funds, they must purchase XRP. On October 21, these ETFs took in around $708,500, and they hold $1.57 billion in total net assets. Since their launch, cumulative net inflows have reached $1.80 billion.
However, the inflows for these ETFs have sharply decreased. They saw zero net inflows on October 19 and 20, following a $2.5 million outflow on October 16. In contrast, late September saw much stronger inflow activity, with $20 million on September 22 and $22.6 million on September 25.
The last big inflow only provided a temporary boost for XRP. On October 8, when the funds added $8.2 million, XRP closed at $1.38, briefly climbing to $1.41 by October 11 before dropping back to $1.34 the next day.
Sellers Are Holding XRP Below Its Moving Averages

A moving average reflects the average closing price over a specific number of days. When a cryptocurrency trades below its moving average, that average often acts as a resistance level where sellers are likely to intervene. The 20-day moving average for XRP stands at $1.39, about 4.4% above its price, and the 50-day moving average is $1.41, about 6.3% higher.
On October 21, XRP momentarily surpassed the 20-day average, reaching $1.40. However, sellers quickly pushed it back down, and the token ended the day at $1.36.
Bitcoin Still Sets the Direction for XRP

Bitcoin (CRYPTO:BTC) trades at $81,794, reflecting a 2% drop in the last 24 hours, which parallels XRP’s trend. Nonetheless, XRP has seen a steeper downturn in 2026. While Bitcoin is down only 3.8% for the year, XRP has lost about 27.7%. Therefore, if Bitcoin faces another sell-off into the end of the month, XRP could be impacted even more negatively.
Where Might the XRP Price Finish October?
In our opinion, XRP is likely to finish October between $1.255 and $1.41. The chances of XRP returning to its $1.49 opening price by October 31 seem low, mainly because ETF demand has declined and both moving averages stand above the price. XRP first needs to close above $1.39 and then $1.41. Even then, a return to $1.49 could require ETF inflows to rise back above $20 million daily.
This perspective has its risks. If ETF flows stay flat and Bitcoin keeps falling, XRP could revisit $1.28, its low for the week of October 19, and even drop to October’s $1.255 low, 5.7% lower. A breach could bring September’s $1.246 low into play. A daily close above $1.41 by October 31 would show we were too cautious, while a close below $1.255 would point to a finish at the bottom of our range.
