Tempus AI (NASDAQ:TEM | TEM Price Prediction) was trading higher this afternoon. It sat at $80.31, up 11.21% after the precision medicine company reported third-quarter results before the open. The stock rose further earlier in the session. It was up 15.44% as of 1:04 PM ET and reached an intraday high of $83.42 before giving back part of that gain. At 1:55 PM ET it sat at $79.24, up 9.72%. Plenty of investors still felt today’s move. That includes people who never bought the stock directly, because a few popular thematic ETFs hold it as a top position.

Record Quarter and Higher Outlook Fuel the Rally

Revenue reached $411.54 million, up 23.1% from a year earlier and ahead of the $409.30 million consensus. Adjusted EPS came in at $0.07, well above the expected loss of $0.08. That made it the company’s sixth consecutive quarter of beating EPS estimates. On a GAAP basis, Tempus still lost $(0.08) per share.

Adjusted EBITDA rose to $25.57 million from $1.48 million a year ago. Data and Applications revenue grew 33% to $108.07 million, and oncology volume growth accelerated to 32%. Management raised full-year revenue guidance to $1.60 to $1.605 billion and repeated adjusted EBITDA of about $65 million. “This quarter, we made the turn,” management told analysts on the call.

Two ARK Funds Hold Tempus Near the Top

The ARK Innovation ETF (NYSEARCA:ARKK) held Tempus shares. The filing reported 6,197,179 of them worth $271.9 million, about 4.89% of net assets as of July 31, 2026. Only a few names carried more weight, led by Tesla at about 9.74%.

Exposure runs higher in the ARK Genomic Revolution ETF (NYSEARCA:ARKG). Its 2,329,124 shares made up about 6.56% of net assets as of the same date, behind only 10X Genomics and Twist Bioscience. ARKG also held Personalis, the company Tempus is acquiring, at about 5.47%. That gives the fund a double tie to the same deal.

Weight decides how much a single stock’s move matters to fund holders. A position in the mid-single digits sends a noticeable share of any large swing into the fund’s daily return. A fraction of a percent barely moves it. These weights are as of filing dates and will have drifted since then, so check the fund’s current holdings page for today’s figure.

Broad and AI-Branded Funds Show Little or No Exposure

The SPDR S&P Biotech ETF (NYSEARCA:XBI) did not list Tempus in its June 30, 2026 holdings. Its largest positions each made up only about 1.49% of assets or less. The Global X Artificial Intelligence & Technology ETF (NASDAQ:AIQ) had no Tempus. It showed no position as of August 31, 2026 either, even with AI in its name. The similarly named Temenos in that portfolio is a different company.

Small-cap index funds that track the Russell 2000 or its growth segment spread their assets across hundreds or thousands of names. Their filings did not confirm a Tempus weight, so holders should check the latest list on the issuer’s website, but wherever Tempus shows up in a broad fund, a single-stock move like today’s tends to get reduced.

Check Your Overlap Before the Next Big Swing

Retirement savers often add a thematic fund next to a core index fund for growth. Someone who owns both ARKK and ARKG ends up with Tempus exposure in two places, plus Personalis in one of them. Tempus is still unprofitable on a GAAP basis. It carries $1.17 billion in convertible notes and recorded $50.8 million of stock-based compensation and related payroll taxes in the quarter. Stocks like that can swing hard in both directions, and a concentrated fund passes those swings straight through to holders. A broad index fund holds them.

To see what you really own:

  • Pull each fund’s daily holdings file from the issuer’s website.
  • Review quarterly N-PORT filings on the SEC’s EDGAR system for audited position data.
  • Run your funds through a free overlap tool to spot names that repeat across your accounts.

Upcoming dates for Tempus include the Personalis shareholder vote on November 30, 2026 and updated XT test pricing starting January 1. Management expects that pricing change to add about $80 million to oncology average selling prices in 2027. Both events could move the stock, and the thematic funds that hold it, again.
