King Soopers is a popular grocery chain founded in Arvada, Colorado, over 70 years ago. The chain has dozens of locations in and around the Denver area and is now owned by Kroger Co. King Soopers gets its name from its founder, Lloyd King, and the unusual spelling of the word “super” used in Archie Comics around the time of its founding in 1947. Innovative in the grocery space, the store was the first supermarket with a pharmacy.

Florida’s most popular grocery store is Publix, a chain native to the state since 1930.
