States Where Fatal Drug Overdoses Are Rising Fastest
November 19, 2021 8:00 am
Methodology
To identify the states where fatal drug overdoses are rising fastest, 24/7 Wall St. reviewed data from the National Center for Health Statistics, a division of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention. States are ranked on the change in deadly overdoses between the 12 months through April 2021 and the same period one year earlier.
To account for pending investigations and incomplete counts, the numbers reported are estimates calculated by the NCHS.
Population-adjusted fatality rates were calculated using population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau’s Decennial Census.
