Hong Kong took the harder hit at the close, with the Hang Seng down 0.63% against a 0.40% slip in Shanghai. Anyone holding China exposure sees selling pressure concentrated offshore again.

The index held positive territory through much of the middle session before sellers returned late to force a negative close.
The Hong Kong versus Shanghai divergence at the close is the number to hold onto. Continued offshore underperformance would signal international positioning on China turning more cautious than the mainland picture implies.
